The present invention provides a hydrogen-containing rare earth halide, a production method thereof, and an application thereof. The hydrogen-containing rare earth halide comprises a compound represented by formula, REX_(a-b)H_b, and inevitable impurities, wherein a is 2 or 3, b is 0.000005 to 0.0001, RE is a rare-earth element, and X is a halogen. The hydrogen-containing rare earth halide has very low contents of water and oxygen. When a rare-earth hydride as a raw material is made to react with an ammonium halide, moisture does not exist in a product, and a small amount of oxide impurities exists in the rare-earth hydride. Although a small amount of oxides is made to react with the ammonium halide, a rare-earth halide that is the same as the ammonium halide is produced. Therefore, since oxides are excessively contained in a rare-earth metal raw material itself, the hydrogen-containing rare earth halide not only lowers a problem of a high content of impurities, but also can avoid a problem that the contents of water and oxygen are excessively increased as rare-earth oxides and the ammonium halide are not sufficiently reacted, or the rare-earth oxides and the ammonium halide are hydrolyzed and oxidized in the dehydrating process. According to the present invention, the hydrogen-containing rare earth halide has a very low content of oxygen, and a small amount of hydrogen elements in the hydrogen-containing rare earth halide is helpful in decreasing the oxidation of the rare-earth halide in the process of using the hydrogen-containing rare earth halide. Therefore, mass production of the hydrogen-containing rare earth halide becomes easier, and the outlook of applying the hydrogen-containing rare earth halide to the industrialization is bright.COPYRIGHT KIPO 2018 |
