PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a technique enabling a hydrogen storage alloy powder to be easily produced while suppressing heat generation due to rapid oxidation.
SOLUTION : A production method of hydrogen storage alloy powder is provided that comprises a step of pulverizing a rare earth-Mg-Ni hydrogen storage alloy containing a rare earth element, Mg and Ni to obtain the hydrogen storage alloy powder and satisfies the following elements (1) and (2). (1) The pulverizing step is performed in a liquid containing water, and (2) the pulverization step is performed in an inert gas atmosphere, and the pulverized hydrogen storage alloy powder is placed in a liquid containing water.
