A solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) anode comprising a matrix comprising a doped metal oxide and an electrocatalyst comprising a porous particle 1 containing a steam reformation catalyst 7. The steam reformation catalyst may be Ni and may further comprise Mg or Al. The doped metal oxide may be an electrically conducting ceramic such as a rare-earth doped ceria, which may be gadolinium doped ceria and/or samarium doped ceria. The matrix may further comprise a steam reformation catalyst such as nickel. The porous particles may be mesoporous. The porous particles may be dispersed throughout the matrix and may comprise praseodymium doped ceria. The porous particles may comprise nickel oxide. A composition for making the anode comprises a matrix precursor comprising a doped metal oxide and an electrocatalyst wherein the electrocatalyst comprises a porous particle comprising a steam reformation catalyst. An electrocatalyst for a solid oxide fuel cell is also provided, the electrocatalyst comprises a nickel containing porous particle, the porous particle comprising a rare-earth doped ceria. |
