A uniaxially oriented polyester film satisfying the formulas below and whereby iridescent unevenness is suppressed, wrinkling or breakage during processing steps can be eliminated, and the polyester film has a thickness suitable for a touch panel substrate. Formulas : 20 µm ≤ t ≤ 60 µm; 2000 nm ≤ Re ≤ 6500 nm; 0.7 ≤ Re/Rth ≤ 1.4; 2000 MPa ≤ EMD; 2 ≤ ETD/EMD ≤ 3; 5 g∙cm/cm ≤ TRTD; and 50 MPa ≤ TBMD; where t is the film thickness, Re is the retardation in the plane of the film, Rth is the retardation in the thickness direction of the film, EMD is the elastic modulus in the longitudinal direction of the film, ETD is the elastic modulus in the width direction of the film, TRTD is the tear strength in the width direction of the film, and TMBD is the breaking strength in the longitudinal direction of the film.
