简介 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a Faraday rotator for magnetic field sensors, having a high light detection sensitivity even with use of a light source having a wavelength of 950 nm or less. SOLUTION : A Faraday rotator 12 for magnetic field sensors has a composition comprising a Pr2O3-containing glass. A rare-earth iron garnet crystal cannot transmit light in the visible light range, due to having a large absorption derived from iron ions at 1100 nm or less. On the other hand, since a Pr2O3-containing glass has a high transmittance in the range of 620 to 950 nm, a light source 10 having a wavelength of 950 nm or less is used.
