PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing a rare earth magnet capable of improving the shape retention of a compact formed from metal powders containing a rare earth element.
SOLUTION : A method for manufacturing a rare earth magnet comprises : a molding step of forming a compact 10b by supplying metal powders containing a rare earth element into a die 2; an orientating step of orientating the metal powders contained in the compact 10b by applying a magnetic field to the compact 10b held in the die 2; a separating step of separating the compact 10b from at least a part of the die 2 after the orientating step; and a sintering step of sintering the compact 10b after the separating step. The die 2 includes a lower die 8, a cylindrical side die 6 arranged on the lower die 8, and an upper die 4 inserted into the side die 6 from above the side die 6. The separating step separates the compact 10b from the side die 6 and the upper die 4 by extracting the compact 10b held in the side die 6 from below the side die 6.
