SOLUTION : There is provided oxygen excess type metal oxide having stoichiometry represented by the following general formula (1) and total of desorption amount of carbon dioxide at from room temperature to 1000°C by a temperature rising desorption method at temperature rising rate of 40°C/min of less than 450 μmol/g. AjDkEmGnO7+δ (1), where A is one or more kind selected from a group consisting of trivalent rare earth element and Ca, D is one or more kind selected from an alkali earth metal element, E and G are each independently one or more kind selected from oxygen tetrahedrally coordinated element and at least one of them is a transition metal element, j>0, k>0 and each independently m≥0, n≥0 and j+k+m+n=6, 0<δ≤1.5.
