The invention relates to a rare earth magnet and a making method thereof; the rare earth magnet has a protection layer with excellent heatproof property and high tenacity; the protection layer enables the rare earth magnet to be hard to oxidized; specifically, the rare earth magnet 10 arranges the protection layer 12 on a surface of the rare earth magnet body 11; in the protection layer 12, thin sheets 16 are scattered in substrates 15A and 15B made of solid alkali metal silicate, and the thin sheet 16 has higher hardness than the substrate and a fuse point above 200 DEG C; in the protection layer 12, the substrate 15A and 15B are high in roughness, so cracks can be stopped when happening; no crack penetrating the protection layer 12 can be formed, so air and water can be stopped from entering the rare earth magnet body 11 and thus oxidizing the body. |
