PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a permanent magnet improved in coercive force and rectangularity ratio.
SOLUTION : A permanent magnet according to an embodiment comprises a sintered compact including : a composition represented by RpFeqMrCusCo100-p-q-r-s (where R is at least one element selected from rare earth elements, M is at least one element selected from Zr, Ti and Hf, 10.5≤p≤12.5 atom%, 24≤q≤40 atom%, 0.88≤r≤4.5 atom%, and 3.5≤s≤10.7 atom%); and a structure having crystal grains including main phases including a Th2Zn17 type crystal phase and crystal grain boundaries of the crystal grains. In the structure of the sintered compact, the average particle diameter of the crystal grains is 50-100 μm, whose percentage of crystal grains of 50 μm or more in crystal grain diameter is 75% or more.
