A permanent magnet according to one embodiment of the present invention is provided with a sintered body which has a composition represented by RpFeqMrCusCo100-p-q-r-s (wherein R represents at least one element selected from among rare earth elements; M represents at least one element selected from among Zr, Ti and Hf; 10.5% by atom ≤ p ≤ 12.5% by atom; 4% by atom ≤ q ≤ 40% by atom; 0.88% by atom ≤ r ≤ 4.5% by atom; and 3.5% by atom ≤ s ≤ 10.7% by atom) and has a structure comprising crystal grains that are composed of a main phase containing a Th2Zn17 type crystal phase and grain boundaries of the crystal grains. With respect to the structure of the sintered body, the ratio of crystal grains having a crystal grain size of 50 μm or more is 75% or more. |
