FIELD : chemistry.
SUBSTANCE : composition comprises a carrier, a source of permanganate anion and a corrosion inhibitor comprising a metal cation comprising a rare earth metal ion, an alkali metal ion, an alkaline earth metal ion and/or a transition metal ion present in the amount of 0.0008 to 0.004 wt % calculated on the composition weight. An article comprising a metal substrate with a supported composition and variants of a method for treating a metal substrate, that comprises applying the composition to the substrate to obtain a surface treated with the permanganate, are also provided.
EFFECT : invention allows to obtain a coating on the surface of the metallic substrate, providing corrosion resistance and contributing to the prevention or reduction of metal oxidation and degradation.
