PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing rare earth-iron-nitrogen based magnet fine powder which is superior in weather resistance, and which can suppress the worsening of a magnetic property in a high-humidity atmosphere.
SOLUTION : A method for manufacturing rare earth-iron-nitrogen based magnet fine powder comprises the step of finely pulverizing rare earth-iron-nitrogen based alloy powder in a pulverizing solvent including a phosphate compound as a surface preparation agent. In the finely pulverizing step by use of the surface preparation agent, nickel or a nickel compound is added to the pulverizing solvent. As to addition amounts in the surface preparation agent, the nickel is 1-5 mass% to an amount of the rare earth-iron-nitrogen based alloy powder, and the phosphate compound is 0.1-0.2 mol/kg.
