PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To mine rare earth resource mud in a deep sea capable of lifting the mud, by safely mining in response to the expansion of a rare earth resource mud layer of the deep sea.
SOLUTION : A mining device comprises a steel box-made mining chamber vessel 10 of releasing the lower side and a hollow cylindrical mud lifting pipe 3 suspended from a work ship on a sea surface, having the lower end movable in the axial direction from a ceiling part of the mining chamber vessel 10 and inserted in a state of regulating the relative movement in the horizontal direction, and the mud lifting pipe 3 is provided with upward flow generation means for lifting mud of a sea bottom from a lower end opening together with water, and the mining chamber vessel 10 is connected to a lower end part of the mud lifting pipe 3 so as not to slip out, and is landed on a water bottom by delivering the mud lifting pipe 3 toward the water bottom from the work ship, and the mud lifting pipe 3 can insert its lower end into the muddy ground of a sea bottom surface in a state of landing the mining chamber vessel 10 on the bottom.
