Disclosed is a scintillator which comprises a plurality of garnet compositions in a single block having a structural formula (1) : M^1_aM^2_bM^3_cM^4_dO_12, where O represents oxygen, and M^1, M^2, M^3, and M^4 represent first, second, third, and fourth metal which are different from each other. The sum of a + b + c + d is approximately eight. ″ a″ has a value of 2-3.5, ″ b″ has a value of 0-5, ″ c″ has a value of 0-5, ″ d″ has a value of 0-1, and ″ b″ and ″ c″ , ″ b″ and ″ d″ or ″ c″ and ″ d″ cannot both be equal to zero simultaneously. M1 is a rare earth element including gadolinium, yttrium, lutetium, or a combination thereof, M2 is aluminum or boron, M3 is gallium, and M4 is a codopant. Two compositions having identical structural formulas are not adjacent to each other.
