PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a superconducting wire rod capable of improving adhesion between an oxide superconducting layer and an Ag protective layer and a method of manufacturing the superconducting wire.
SOLUTION : There is provided a superconducting wire 10 having a laminate 15 having a constitution by laminating an intermediate layer 12, an oxide superconducting layer 13 and a protective layer 14 on one side surface 11a of a tape shaped substrate 11 in this order, wherein the oxide superconducting layer 13 contains one or more kind of rare earth element, the protective layer 14 contains one or more kind of rare earth element and silver.
