PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To produce a base powder for rare earth sintered magnet, used for manufacturing a rare earth sintered magnet, where the content of base powder particles composed of single crystal is high.
SOLUTION : A production method of base powder for rare earth sintered magnet has a coarse powder dispersion preparation step 12 of preparing a coarse powder dispersion by dispersing rare earth alloy coarse powder, having the same composition as the main component of a rare earth sintered magnet, into dispersed oil mainly composed of hydrocarbon, a wet pulverization step 13 of pulverizing the rare earth alloy coarse powder in the coarse powder dispersion, by making a jet of the coarse powder dispersion collide against a collision object, and a deoiling step 14 of removing the dispersed oil from the coarse powder dispersion after the wet pulverization step.
