An accessory 801 for use with a pipeline strainer 101 having a body 102 containing a screen collector, the accessory comprising a collar supporting a permanent magnet arrangement and mountable around the body of the pipeline strainer to position the magnet(s) in the vicinity of the screen collector. The collar may comprise a discontinuous circular e.g. C-shaped clip of a non-magnetic material, e.g. plastics, and may ideally have an internal diameter to match the strainer outer diameter with a tab diametrically opposite an open portion of the clip to facilitate handling. The magnets may be of rare-earth, Ferrite or AINiCo type and may be fixed within the clip or may be removable or adjustable e.g. via a screw thread and hex key so that they may be replaced to vary type or strength or adjusted to match the strainer diameter if the accessory is fitted to a reduced diameter strainer. The magnet complements the strainer by capturing magnetic particles smaller than those collected by the strainer e.g. less than 80 microns. Used in the treatment of fluid in a fluid circuit of a heating or a cooling system, comprising a pipeline strainer and the accessory. |
