A magnesium-based alloy consisting essentially of : indium and/or gallium in a total amount between 0.1 and 4 mass %, scandium and/or gadolinium in a total amount between 0.1 and 15.0 mass %, yttrium in an amount between 0.1 and 3.0 mass %, rare earth metals in a total amount between 0.1 and 3.0 mass %, one or more of zirconium, hafnium and titanium in a total amount between 0.1 and 0.7 mass %, optionally 0.001 mass % or less of a toxiferous element, optionally silver (Ag), aluminium (Al), beryllium (Be), cadmium (Cd), chromium (Cr), mercury (Hg), strontium (Sr) and thorium (Th) which are each present in an amount of 0.001 mass % or less, and magnesium with purity more than or equal to 99.98 mass % making up the balance. A use of said an alloy for the manufacture of at least part of a medical device, the medical device so obtained. |
