PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an aluminate fluophor in which the external quantum efficiency of blue luminescence when excited by a light having a wavelength of 350 to 430nm is improved.SOLUTION : The aluminate fluophor is provided that is formed by activating an aluminate represented by the following formula (I) with Eu, and that contains at least one rare earth element selected from the group consisting of Lu and Sc in an amount in the range of 0.005 to 0.30 mole per 1 mole of Eu. M1aMgAlbOa+1+1.5b formula (I).
