The present invention relates to a mixed oxide catalyst which can be used in the complete oxidation of volatile organic compounds (VOC) into CO_2 and H_2O, the decomposition of nitrogen protoxide into nitrogen and oxygen, and the combustion of CO, H_2 and CH_4 off-gases in fuel cells. The mixed oxide catalyst of the present invention comprises oxides of manganese and copper, and a mixed oxide of rare earth metals selected from among La_2O_3 and Nd_2O_3, and has a composition including 35-65 wt% of MnO, 19-31 wt% of CuO, and 20-37 wt% of La_2O_3 and/or Nd_2O_3.
