PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a long-life glow plug by suppressing the occurrence of cracks in a junction of members at a tube tip part while securing the oxidation resistance of a tube, and a method for manufacturing the same.
SOLUTION : A glow plug includes a cylindrical tube extending in an axial direction and having an opening at the tip, a plug body blocking the opening, and a heater disposed in the tube and having a resistance heating element connected to the plug body at the tip. The glow plug is such that : at least one of the tube and the plug body has Ni or Fe as a main component, and is configured from a specific alloy containing at least one kind of element selected from the group consisting of Ti, Zr, Hf, Y and a rare-earth element; the tube and the plug body have a first junction where metals configuring both members are mutually diffused; and when the plug body is configured from the specific alloy, the plug body and the resistance heating element have a second junction where metals configuring both members are mutually diffused. A method for manufacturing the glow plug is also provided.
