[Task] By inhibiting crack formation in a connecting section, and in which members are connected to each other at a front end portion of a pipe, while maintaining oxidation resistance of said tube simultaneously, providing a glow plug having a long lifetime; and providing a method of manufacturing the same. [Solution] preview a glow plug, wherein comprising : a heater having a cylindrical tube extending in a direction of an axial line and having an opening portion at a front end of said cylindrical tube, a rivet portion closing said opening portion, and a resistance heating element disposed in the tube, a front end of the resistance heating element being connected to the rivet section, the tube and/or the rivet section being made of a particular alloy containing Ni or Fe as a main component and at least one element selected from the group consisting of Ti. Zr, Hf, Y and rare earth elements, a first connecting section in which metals forming the tube and the rivet section are interdiffused into each other, is provided on the tube and the rivet section, and wherein when said rivet portion is made of said particular alloy, a second connecting portion in which metals constituting said rivet portion and said resistance heating element are interdiffused are provided on said rivet portion and said resistance heating element; and a method for manufacturing the same. |
