PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a liquid crystal composition having a negative dielectric anisotropy improved in at least one of the absolute value of Δε, Δn, Tand η without degrading the other three items; and to provide a liquid crystal display device using teh same.SOLUTION : The liquid crystal composition having a negative dielectric anisotropy contains at least one compound represented by formula (I) and at least one compound represented by formula (II), and does not contains a compound represented by formula (III) (wherein R, R, Rand Rare each 1-8C alkyl, alkoxy, 2-8C alkenyl or alkenyloxy; Rand Rare each 1-8C alkyl or alkoxy; ais 0 or 1; A, Aand Aare each a group having a specific divalent 6-membered ring; Zis a single bond, -CH=CH-, -C≡C-, -CHO-, -OCH-, -CFO-, -OCF- or -CHCH-). |
