PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide novel mercaptoalkylglycolurils.SOLUTION : A mercaptoalkylglycoluril is represented by the formula in the figure (n is 0, 1 or 2; Rand Rare each independently H, a lower alkyl group or a phenyl group; and R, Rand Rare each independently H, or a mercaptoalkyl group selected from among a mercaptomethyl group, a 2-mercaptoethyl group and a 3-mercaptopropyl group). The mercaptoalkylglycoluril is useful, e.g., as a novel synthetic intermediate of a sulfur-containing compound and, because each molecule has two or more mercaptoalkyl groups and no ester group, useful as a curative for an epoxy resin providing a resin cured product having better hydrolysis resistance than conventional polythiols. |
