PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a fast reactor fuel element capable of properly raising the temperature of fuel for absorbing swelling of a metal fuel due to an irradiation by neutron while increasing the Doppler reactivity.
SOLUTION : A fast reactor fuel element 40 includes : a hollow fuel rod 46 using a metal fuel, which extends in a vertical direction and in which a center hole 46a is formed in a radial direction penetrating central area of the fuel rod in a vertical direction; a solid rod 47 using a Doppler effect enhancement material which is disposed in the center hole 46a extending in a vertical direction; and a cladding tube 44 which has a cylindrical shape extending in a vertical direction, in which the hollow fuel rod 46 and the solid rod 47 are stored, and which is sealed at the top and the bottom thereof and is filled with a noble gas 49b as a heat transmission substance in a sealed space thereof.
