简介 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a spherical particle that can be used in an acidic solution, has a sufficiently small aspect ratio and can be produced in a shorter period of time. SOLUTION : The spherical particle is a core/shell type spherical particle having a core and a shell layer covering the core. The core includes cerium oxide and a rare earth oxide comprising an oxide of at least one kind of rare earth element selected from Y, La, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd, Tb, Ho and Lu and has a content ratio of the cerium oxide to the rare earth oxide of 60 to 85 mol% : 40 to 15 mol%. The shell layer includes cerium oxide and the rare earth oxide and has a concentration gradient where the concentration of cerium oxide increases from the core surface toward the spherical particle surface and the content ratio of the cerium oxide to the rare earth oxide on the spherical particle surface attains 90 to 100 mol% : 10 to 0 mol%.
