PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a glass that has a high refractive index and high liquid phase viscosity without including a large amount of expensive rare earth oxides and others.
SOLUTION : The present invention provides a glass with a high refractive index which has a glass composition containing, by mass%, SiO2+Al2O3+B2O3 : 30.5-80%, MgO+CaO+SrO+BaO+ZnO : 10-60%, BaO : 4-40%, TiO2+ZrO2 : 0-20%, and P2O5 : 0.01-15%, and has a refractive index (nd) of 1.51-2.0. The present invention provides a glass with a high refractive index which does not substantially comprise PbO or alkali metal oxides. The present invention provides a glass with a high refractive index which has a liquid phase viscosity of 103.0 dPa s or more.
