PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a phosphor having a novel composition.
SOLUTION : The phosphor is represented by general formula (M2x, M3y, M4z, M5v, M6w)mM1O3Xn (where M1 represents one or more elements including at least Si and selected from the group consisting of Si, Ge, Ti, Zr, and Sn; M2 represents one or more elements including at least Ca and selected from the group consisting of Ca, Mg, Zn, Cd, Ni, Cu, Hg, Co, and Sn; M3 represents one or more elements including at least Sr and selected from the group consisting of Sr, Ba, and Pb; X represents one or more halogen elements including at least Cl; M4 represents at least one element selected from the group consisting of divalent rare earth elements and Mn; M5 represents at least one element selected from the group consisting of trivalent rare earth elements; and M6 represents at least one element selected from the group consisting of alkali metals).
