PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To remove rare earth elements, radioactive elements, and Fe from an organic phase of a loaded extraction solvent containing the rare earth elements, the radioactive elements, and Fe to enable this organic phase to be reused.
SOLUTION : The method comprises : a mixing step of forming a mixture by mixing an aqueous solution of an alkali metal carbonate with a loaded extraction solvent in which a raw material containing rare earth elements, radioactive elements, and Fe is dissolved by means of a cation exchange-type extraction agent; a phase separation step of allowing the mixture to stand still to form an organic phase which mainly contains the cation exchange-type extraction agent, an aqueous phase in which the radioactive elements and Fe are dissolved, and a solid phase which mainly contains the rare earth elements; and an organic phase separation step of separating the organic phase from the aqueous phase and the solid phase.
