PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a high-capacity nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery superior in high-temperature battery characteristics, such as high-temperature shelf life and a high-temperature cycle characteristic.
SOLUTION : A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises : a positive electrode including as a positive electrode active material, lithium transition metal complex oxide particles; a negative electrode; and a nonaqueous electrolyte. On the surface of each lithium transition metal complex oxide particle, microparticles of a rare earth compound are deposited. The rare earth compound is at least one compound selected from a group consisting of a rare earth hydroxide and a rare earth oxyhydroxide. The positive electrode includes borate. The nonaqueous electrolyte includes a fluorinated nonaqueous solvent.
