PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a saponification method of a cation exchange type extractant which enables easy saponification of a cation exchange type extractant by a simple step.
SOLUTION : A saponification method of a cation exchange type extractant includes a saponification step of mixing an aqueous solution of a metal hydroxide in a concentration of 3 mol/L or higher with a cation exchange type extractant to conduct a saponification reaction which comprises substituting the hydrogens of hydroxy groups of the cation exchange type extractant with the metal of the metal oxide so as to obtain an extraction solvent composed of a single phase.
