PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth cobalt type permanent magnet having excellent magnetic characteristics.
SOLUTION : When an element R is a rare earth element containing at least Sm, a rare earth cobalt type permanent magnet contains R : 23 to 27%, Cu : 3.5 to 5%, Fe : 18 to 25%, Zr : 1.5 to 3% in wt.%, and the remnant comprising Co and unavoidable impurities. The rare earth cobalt type permanent magnet has a metal composition containing a cell phase (11) containing an Sm2Co17 phase and a cell wall (12) surrounding the cell phase (11) and containing an SmCo5 phase.
