PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing an R-T-B-based sintered magnet having high HcJ and high Hk/HcJ while avoiding using a heavy rare earth element RH as far as possible and suppressing the decrease in Br.
SOLUTION : A method for manufacturing an R-T-B-based sintered magnet comprises the steps of : preparing alloy powder including 27-35 mass% of R, 0.9-1.0 mass% of B, 0.15-0.6 mass% of Ga and the balance consisting of T, and inevitable impurities; preparing the powder of Ti hydride; preparing a powder mixture by mixing the alloy powder and the Ti hydride powder together so that the content of Ti is 0.3 mass% or less to the 100 mass% of the powder mixture; preparing a compact of the powder mixture by compacting the powder mixture; preparing an R-T-B-based sintered magnet material by sintering the compact thereinto; and performing a thermal treatment on the R-T-B-based sintered magnet material.
