PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a spring steel wire material extremely excellent in fatigue characteristics.
SOLUTION : The spring steel wire material has a chemical component composition adjusted appropriately, an average composition of oxide-based inclusion having a diameter of a minor axis existing on a cross section parallel to a longer direction of the steel material of 1 μm or more satisfies, by mass%, CaO : 0 to 35%, Al2O3 : 0 to 40%, SiO2 : 30 to 95%, MgO : 0 to 8%, MnO : 0 to 5%, TiO2 : 3 to 10% and CaO+Al2O3+SiO2+MgO+MnO+TiO2≥80% and the number of the oxide inclusion having the diameter of the minor axis existing on the cross section parallel to the longer direction of the steel material of 2 μm or more satisfies over 0.002/mm2.
