FIELD : chemistry.
SUBSTANCE : invention relates to complex oxide, which can be used as catalyst, functional ceramics, solid electrolyte for fuel elements, abrasive substance and the like, especially suitable for application as cocatalytic material in catalysts for purification of automobile exhaust gases, as well as relates to method of obtaining complex oxide and catalyst for purification of exhaust gases, in which complex oxide is applied. Complex oxide contains cerium and at least one element, selected from aluminium, silicon or rare earth metals, different from cerium, with weight ratio from 85 : 15 to 99 : 1, counted per oxides, which after burning at 900°C for 5 hours has volume with pore diameter not more than 200 nm not lower than 0.30 cm3/g.
EFFECT : invention provides obtaining complex oxide, which preserves large volume of pores even if it is applied in high-temperature medium and has excellent thermal resistance and catalytic activity.
