The present invention relates to a dry extracting process which can extract rare earth elements contained inside a permanent magnet using liquid magnesium. More specifically, the present invention relates to a method for extracting rare earth elements, which manufactures a magnesium alloy containing rare earth elements by reacting liquid magnesium to a neodymium (nN) magnet (Nd-Fe-B) scrap in order to selectively extract the rare earth elements (Nd, Dy, Pr, Gd, etc.) contained in the magnet, and can separate high purity rare earth elements by reheating the alloy in order to selectively vaporize magnesium.
