PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of manufacturing a rare-earth magnet that enhances magnetic anisotropy and improves magnetic characteristics.
SOLUTION : A method of manufacturing a rare-earth magnet includes : an alloy powder preparation step of preparing powder of an R-Fe-based alloy which has a structure including a main phase of an R-Fe-based compound and a grain boundary phase containing a metal element M other than R and Fe, and has a ratio of lengths of c axis and a axis of a crystal lattice of 0.55 or more to 0.85 or less; a hydrogenation step of obtaining hydrogenated powder by hydrogenating the power of the R-Fe-based alloy; a molding step of obtaining a hydrogenated powder compact by compression molding the hydrogenated powder; a dehydrogenation step of obtaining a magnet raw material by dehydrogenating the hydrogenated powder compact; a magnetic field heat treatment step of heat treating the magnet raw material at a temperature within ±55°C of an eutectic point of the grain boundary phase while applying a varying magnetic field varying between a strong magnetic field of 3T or larger in absolute value and a weak magnetic field weaker than that; and a combining step of nitriding or carbonizing the magnet raw material.
