PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a permanent magnet type rotary electric machine for electric vehicles using rare earth-less magnets capable of ensuring a peak torque or power generation torque for instantaneously assisting engine torque while ensuring characteristics in high-speed operation.
SOLUTION : The rotator has plural permanent magnets, each of which has at least one side formed in an arc-shape in a cross-section in an axial direction. Defining the central axis of a magnetic pole as d-axis; and an axis which is separated from the d-axis by 90° in electric angle as q-axis, the permanent magnet type rotary electric machine of the rotator is arranged so that a line connecting the center point of the arc and the arc has a first pair of permanent magnets which does not cross the d-axis, and the line has a second permanent magnet pair which crosses the d-axis.
