Provided is a permanent-magnet-type rotational electric machine for electric vehicles which is capable of ensuring power-generation torque or peak torque for instantaneously assisting engine torque, and which is capable of ensuring characteristics when operating at high speeds, even if magnets containing a reduced amount of a rare earth element are employed. A rotor (130) for a permanent-magnet-type rotational electric machine is provided with a plurality of permanent magnets, and permanent magnets (131 and 132) which each have at least one side thereof formed into an arc shape in a cross section in an axial direction. The rotor (130) is configured so as to be provided with : first permanent magnet pairs (131A and 131B) in which, when axis d represents the central axis of magnetic poles, and axis q represents an axis that deviates from axis d by an electrical angle of 90˚, lines linking central points of the arcs thereof with the other arcs do not intersect axis d; and second permanent magnet pairs (132A-D) in which the lines linking central points of the arcs thereof with the other arcs intersect axis d. |
