The present invention provides a ferritic stainless steel for use in a fuel reformer, the ferritic stainless steel having both excellent oxidation resistance and excellent economy, without having to rely on adding large amounts of Ni or rare earth elements and without producing abnormal oxidation in a reformed gas environment. This ferritic stainless steel for use in a fuel reformer has a composition which, in mass %, is composed of at least one of Cr : 12-24%, C : 0.001-0.03%, Al : 0.002-4%, P : 0.05% or lower, S : 0.01% or lower, N : 0.03% or lower, Nb : 0.01-1%, Si : 0.3-4%, and Mn : over 0.1 up to 2%, the remainder being Fe and inevitable impurities, and satisfies formula (i) (Cr + 5Si + Mn + 2Nb ≥ 22 (i)). The chemical symbols in the formula signify the mass% of the relevant element that is contained in the steel. |
