PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a light irradiation apparatus having a novel structure which is useful as a light source for a weather resistance test device of a solar cell panel. SOLUTION : A light irradiation apparatus comprises a plurality of external electrode type rare gas discharge lamps which are disposed in an attitude extending in parallel with each other and a plurality of inverters, corresponding to the rare gas discharge lamps, electrically connected to power feeding sections formed in one-side terminal portions of the rare gas discharge lamps in an axial direction. At a plurality of level positions where separation distances in a direction vertical to a lamp arrangement surface on which the rare gas discharge lamps are arranged side by side are different from each other, the plurality of inverters are disposed while being displaced in the axial direction of the rare gas discharge lamps so as to be positioned at a terminal portion side where the power feeding sections are formed in the axial direction of the rare gas discharge lamps as the level positions to dispose the inverters become far from the lamp arrangement surface.
