PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for recovering platinum group elements and rare earth elements in which the platinum group elements and the rare earth elements are dissolved into a single ion liquid, and they are selectively separated, and a recovering device used for the recovering method. SOLUTION : In the method for recovering the platinum group elements and the rare earth elements, a resource 15 containing the platinum group elements and the rare earth elements is dissolved into the ion liquid 34, thereafter, the platinum group elements are recovered from the ion liquid by electrolytic deposition, the rare earth elements are recovered from the ion liquid subjected to the recovering treatment of the platinum group elements, and thereafter, the rare earth elements remaining in the ion liquid subjected to the recovering treatment of the rare earth elements are concentrated by electrophoresis. The ion liquid is composed of the cation of quaternary phosphonium or the cation of quaternary ammonium and an anion selected from the group composed of (SO2F)2N-, N(CN)2-, [CF3(CF2)nSO2]2N-, CF3SO3-, PF6-and BF4-.
