PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To reduce the number of components of a multi-core optical amplifier.SOLUTION : An optical amplifier includes at least two sets of interleavers (9) for multiplexing and demultiplexing a plurality of WDM signals having wavelength arrangement different from each other, at least two sets of multiplexer/demultiplexer (5) for multiplexing and demultiplexing the plurality of WDM signals from the interleaver and the exciting light from an excitation light source (4), a multi-core fiber for amplification (3) including a plurality of cores added with rare earth ions, and a set of fanout (8) for connecting each multiplexer/demultiplexer of each of at least two sets of multiplexer/demultiplexer (5) with one of a plurality of cores of the multi-core fiber for amplification (3). |
