PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a dental instrument capable of generating plasma with little heat generation without using an extra gas such as a rare gas and performing sterilization concurrently with an operation for dental treatment such as cutting and root canal enlargement.
SOLUTION : A handpiece body 10 and a head part 3 include an air passage 6 and an air passage 61 communicating to the air passage 6 such that air (atmosphere) supplied from the outside squirts from an air squirt hole 6a provided on the head part 3 via the air passages 6 and 61 to a distal end direction of a cutting bar 4. The air passage 6 of the handpiece body 10 includes a plasma generation part 8, a high-frequency voltage is applied to opposed electrodes provided on the plasma generation part 8 and ionizes oxygen and hydrogen in the air to generate plasma, thereby squirting it from the air squirt hole 6a.
