PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rubber composition for a base tread capable of improving low fuel consumption property, stability and durability (flex crack growth resistance) in a good balance and to provide a pneumatic tire using the same.
SOLUTION : The invention relates to a rubber composition for a base tread containing a rubber component and a reinforcing agent, and the rubber composition contains a butadiene rubber containing a natural rubber and 1, 2-syndiotactic polybutadiene crystal (1), a butadiene rubber synthesized by using a rare earth element-based catalyst (2) and a modified butadiene rubber having a cis content of 50 mass% or less (3).
