PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a target for forming an oxide superconductive thin film comprising a sintered body, which is a target hardly generating a fracture or a crack, and to provide a production method thereof, and a production method of an oxide superconductive wire rod.
SOLUTION : A target is used for generating an oxide superconductive thin film represented by a composition formula REBa2Cu3Ox (RE is one or two or more kinds of rare earth elements), on a substrate by a deposition method, and comprises a sintered body containing a REBa2Cu3Ox composition and an organic binder. The carbon content in the sintered body is 350 ppm or less.
