PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an extractant capable of mutually separating rare earth metals and an extractant capable of efficiently extracting light rare earth metals.
SOLUTION : The provided amide derivative is expressed by the formula (1) : [R1 and R2 express mutually identical or different branched alkyl groups; R3 expresses H or alkyl group; R4 expresses H or an arbitrary group other than amino group coupled, as amino acid, with α carbon; the possession of a glycine unit, histidine unit, lysine unit, aspartic acid unit, or n-methylglycine unit is preferred]; in a case where valuable metals are extracted, the valuable metals can be selectively extracted by subjecting an acidic solution including the valuable metals and impurities to a solvent extraction using the amide derivative.
