简介 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a magnesium alloy containing a small amount of alloy elements by a simple production process, suitable for applications requiring reliability such as a structural member by achieving both of ultrahigh strength and ductility, having very high strength with ductility suitable for structural applications such as a door frame or a seat frame of automobiles. SOLUTION : There is provided the magnesium alloy which is a Mg-Zn-RE alloy and is produced by a wrought process such as extrusion or rolling at 230 to 280°C from a casting material having a dendrite composition. The magnesium alloy has a crystal particle diameter of 1 micron or less, nanosize particles of a quasicrystal phase being dispersed in the crystal. The magnesium alloy has a tensile yield strength of 370 MPa or more at an elongation value of 12% or more. The composition of the magnesium alloy is in the range of (100-x-y) atom%Mg-y atom%Zn-x atom%ER, where y is in the range of 5x≤y≤7x, x in the range of 0.2≤x≤1.5, and the balance commercial grade magnesium metal and inevitable impurities.
