PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a permanent magnet motor employing a permanent magnet having a high magnetic density and a high coersive force.
SOLUTION : In a rotor core 160 forming a rotor of a permanent magnet motor, main magnetic pole parts and auxiliary magnetic pole parts are alternately disposed along a circumferential direction. In the main magnetic pole part, a magnet insertion hole 161 is formed into which a permanent magnet 170 is inserted. The permanent magnet 170 includes at least one communication hole 175. The permanent magnet 170 is formed by dispersing at least one of dysprosium and terbium to a rare earth magnet body containing neodymium after forming the communication hole 175 in the rare earth magnet body. The communication hole 175 is formed at a position where a region formed from a line drawn in a distance of 1.5 mm from an outer peripheral surface of the permanent magnet 170 to the inside of the permanent magnet 170 in a cross-sectional view crossing an extending direction of the communication hole 175 is covered with a region within a range of 1.5 mm from an inner peripheral surface of the communication hole 175 to an outer peripheral surface side of the permanent magnet 170.
