PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet powder which can offer e.g. a bond magnet having good environmental resistance.
SOLUTION : Rare earth magnet powder comprises : powder particles consisting of collections of R2TM14B1-type crystals which are each a tetragonal compound of a rare earth element (R), boron (B), and a transition element (TM); and a passive state film with which the outer surface of each powder particle is covered. A bond magnet manufactured by use of the rare earth magnet powder is hard to suffer the deterioration in its magnetic property by oxidation and water even if it is exposed to a severe environment because the bond magnet is formed by the powder particles each covered with the passive state film. That is, using the rare earth magnet powder of the invention, a bond magnet having a satisfying environmental resistance can be obtained.
